  • Hammer time in Hitchcock land.

On first viewing back in the day, I couldn't put my finger on why I didn't love this episode. It is very well acted, and an absolute showcase to Olivia Brown, who's Trudy is front and center.

The story is good, with Trudy's anger at a released rapist and concern about a victim potboil in front of everyone.

But something wasn't right. Seeing it in reruns (before I had a VCR) I realized the issue. This is the only Vice episode with no pop songs in it. The entire score is Jan Hammer.

And unlike recycled themes, this score features an eerie, Psycho like soundtrack that gets in the way of the story. A middling episodes that should've been better.moreless
