  • Action shows are never going to be the same again

Every time I watch an episode of Miami Vice I keep thinking - why the hell I am so attracted to this? I am not an action fan, I don`t like Don Johnson that much, Philip Michael Thomas' acting perfomance annoys me sometimes... So, why?

The answer is simple enough - this show is not only action packed but is also very touching and... maybe life-like. Current episode is the best illustration of my thoughts.

In the "Milk Run" we see interaction between two main heroes, good cops and kind-hearted people, and two young gentlemen who decided to go over the line of the law just once, trying to buy a ticket to a better life. These kids are not completely lost, but they are sure going to be, as messing with the law is a one-way road to the dark side.

Sonny and Ricardo, especially Sonny, feels for these two young people, he appears almost like a fatherly figure, he is going to rip the hell apart just to save two souls, which are going to be lost forever. Will he succeed? Is there a place for a happy ending?

One of the best scenes ever - Eddie and Louis are waiting for the dope buyer, Diego Moya. The place of meeting is under cops' surveillance. Diego comes. As soon as he gets to see the goods, he pulls out a gun to waste the boys. Eddie first... Sniper takes out Moya a second before he pulls a trigger, Eddie starts crying. Great perfomance by Al Shannon, great scene.moreless
  • This is when the show found its voice

The first few episodes of Miami Vice have a different feel than the "classic" Vice most fans think of first. Less gloss, more grit, and hit or miss storylines.

This one begins to flesh out the tone and feel that became the classic Vice setup. While the next few weeks still sae the good guys always winning, the emotional finale of The Milk Run lingers and forced the audience to see that the foreboding indeed led to the sad conclusion.

Two young New York punks are trying to score a shipment direct from Columbia. Crockett & Tubbs catch up with them and see how one is gung-ho about things and the other is afraid.

Through perserverance, they try to set he boys straight. But Castillo takes the lead detectives off the main bust and assign them to the "milk run", transporting the boys to the airport. But things go wrong, and the outcome is exactly as you expected, but hoped wouldn't happen. The long shot of a stricken Crockett sitting on the ground at the end was brilliant.

This wasn't the first time that the detectives suffered a loss, but it was the first time it was supposed to linger with the audience. And it did.moreless
