This was the perfect season finale. It really showed what a wonderful show this is. One of the finest hours of television I’ve ever seen. When you’re so attached to the characters, as I am, and the show is this good, it’s almost as if you’re there, in the story. The episode was full of tension, suspense and action. I couldn’t look away! The final sequence is simply awesome. What a way to finish the season. I cant wait for season 3! I have to get it on DVD! It’s worth every penny. Calderone must pay! Til the next time, Tubbs, Crockett!moreless

This episode was the season 2 finale, and it's a great way to end the pastels-and-Daytona era of Miami Vice. This continues the storyline began at the start of the first season, after Crockett and Tubbs finally dispatch drug baron Calderone-the man who killed Tubbs' brother, and his reason for being in Miami in the first place. Despite some soap-opera elements, the story moves from one plot point to the next with deftness and confidence. The spotlight here is definitely on Tubbs, and he makes the most of it, giving a tightly coiled performance as he tries to deal with Angelina, his new baby boy, and the bounty placed on his head by Calderone Jr. The climax, on a lonely stretch of beach, is one of the most memorable in the shows history, and is heartbreakingly acted by Phanie Napoli as Angelina, and John Leguizamo as Calderone Jr., one of Vice's more cold-blooded bad guys. A near-perfect episode from top to bottom, and if the denouement doesn't move you, you're utterly heartless. A winner.moreless

    • The German episode title is "Calderones Fluch", meaning "Calderone's Curse".

    • Music: "After the Fire" (Tubbs' memories) by Roger Daltrey from album Under a Raging Moon; "Long Long Way To Go" (end) by Phil Collins from album No Jacket Required.

    • Then Chrysler Motors Chairman Lee Iaococa has a cameo as a parks commissioner. He was a personal hero of Michael Talbott.

    • This is the last episode of the series to have that "Classic Vice" look. The pastels would be out in season 3 in favor of a look Michael Mann described as "Moscow at Midnight". The New Style did not last for long, but the rest of the series would be a hodge-podge of both styles.

    • Angelina is seen for the first time since early in season 1, "Calderone's Demise". Even though she dies, her "love child" with Tubbs survives, unbeknownst to the detective. Although the Calderones will be back for one more round in season 3, "The Afternoon Plane", the baby is never mentioned again in the series.
