Miami Vice

Season 1 Episode 4

The Hit List (1)

Aired Friday 10:00 PM Oct 19, 1984 on NBC

  • Trivia

    • When Tubbs races through the streets of Miami to save Crockett and his ex-wife, the stock footage reveals Crockett behind the wheel of the car. It gives the impression that Crockett is racing to save his own life. Stock footage of both Ferraris would leave room for plenty of continuity glitches during the run of the series.

  • Notes

    • The German episode title is "Calderones Rückkehr 1. Teil", meaning "Calderone's Return, Part I".

    • This is Gregory Sierra's last appearance as Lt. Lou Rodriguez. Reportedly Sierra did not like living in Miami.

    • This episode is the first to feature the Jan Hammer composed and performed instrumental "Crockett's Theme" (heard during the beach-side scene between Sonny and Caroline). This musical piece would become a series staple, and appear on the second soundtrack album release for the television series.

    • Music: "I'm So Excited" (in club) by The Pointer Sisters from album Break Out; "Tush" (during fight) by ZZ Top from album Fandango; "In The Night" (as Tubbs speeds through Miami) by Russ Ballard from his S/T album in 1984.

    • "The Hit List" and "Calderone's Demise" were shown in 1985 as a two-hour episode called "Calderone's Return."
