This was the season 3 debut of "Miami Vice", and many changes had been made, both in front of, and behind the camera. Michael Mann had almost left entirely to concentrate on his pending film "Manhunter", and the studio brought in Dick Wolf to steer the show, while Mann still retained his Executive Producer credit. A different color scheme was employed, disposing of the trademark pastels and bringing in deeper, darker hues, perhaps to match the darker tone of the stories. We also bid goodbye to Crockett's beloved Daytona, in a blackly humorous and effective scene. There's a formidable array of guest stars on show here, with Liam Neeson as Caroon, Jeff Fahey as the surly arms dealer Eddie Kaye, "Die Hard"'s late, great Paul Gleason as Caroon's U.S. contact, and the Bond series' Walter Gotell as Kaye's go-between. For once, the spotlight is on Gina(Saundra Santiago), one of the Vice team's female detectives, and she's up to the task, proving she's as capable as Crockett or Tubbs, but as usual her heart takes a beating(why don't they give her a break?). It's a good start to a new-look show, but after the last season's finale, it's a bit of a disappointment. Still, entertaining.moreless

It was actually a Corvette modified by a kit.
