  • An excellent episode where we take a peek inside the world of thoroughbred horse racing.

    9.0
The high class world of horse racing is put under the spotlight when Barnaby and Scott are called to investigate the murder of the trainer of the thoroughbred racehorse 'Bantling Boy'. When looking into the events surrounding the trainer's death, the police uncover the fact that he was an alcholic whoi had a penchant for having plenty to say, a lot of which didn't sit well with the locals. It seems that one of his pet topics of conversation was his assertion that he knew why his late father, the previous owner of 'Bantling Boy', left the horse to four particular villagers.

Barnaby and Scott must try to find out whether the outspoken trainer was murdered because of his comments and whether or not the members of the syndicate who own the horse are involved. When the horse suffers an attempted poisoning, the plot thickens and the suspect pool widens further. The question is, who has the most to gain?

I liked this episode. and John Hopkins began to settle more into his role as Dan Scott which made the episode more 'comfortable' to watch. It's an interesting plot and, as usual, figuring out who the killer is is a difficult and interesting exercise for the viewer.moreless
