  • The people from the village of Elverton are very divided over the proposed building of a supermarket but are some locals angry enough to commit murder?

Elverton is a very quiet, peaceful Midsomer village with very little to excite the interest of the police until a controversy errupts over the proposed building of a supermarket on the site of an old mill, long abandoned. Some villagers are very much in favour of the development but others are equally vehemently against its construction fearing that the quality of life in the village will be altered if the plans go ahead.

When Frank Hopkirk, a consultant who was in the village in connection with the proposed supermarket construction is found dead on the site where the supermarket is supposed to be built, it's up to Barnaby and Jones to try to work out whether is death is connected to the anti-supermarket crowd or whether the fact that he and several locals are involved in some rather kinky sex games was the reason for his murder.

Perhaps things are not as quiet and peaceful in Elverton as they seem?
