  • Several years ago, Midsomer Worthy was the scene of a series of serial murders and, with the death of a famous Brazillian model, it looks as though the killer is on the loose again.

When the beautiful Brazillian model, Carla Constanza (Betti Romani) is found naked and strangled in the woods soon after her arrival in Midsomer Worthy, Barnaby and Troy note the similarities between this killing and a series of deaths nine years previously and wonder whether the same person could be responsible.

Carla Constanza is a very famous face in her home country, for she is the face of "Carla Cigarettes", a huge money making brand whose owners, Monarch Tobacco, are based in Midsomer Worthy. From the time of Carla's arrival, it is clear that she is unwell, but apart from hearing an argument in her room at the hotel where she stays when she arrives in the village, there are precious few clues as to why she was killed or who was responsible for it.

Dr. George Bullard (Barry Jackson) confirms that she died by strangulation but also tells the police that she had a severe and ultimately terminal lung condition, caused, he believes, by long-term heavy smoking. When other murders start to happen, Barnaby and Troy have to figure out whether they are connected to the tobacco giant, and if so, in what way, and if the killings are unrelated, then just excatly who is behind them?

This one will keep you on the edge of your seat as it moves along at a brisk pace and keeps you guessing right up until the mystery is solved.
