  • Of all things, crop circles are the setting for the first murder in this episode. Barnaby and Troy have the job of finding out exactly who killed the naked victim and what they have to gain by leaving his body in a crop circle.

Tom Barnaby is very much a no nonsense man and the idea of alien visitors making crop circles in the country is far more than his logical policeman's mind is willing to accept but he can't deny that a man is dead and his naked body is lying in the middle of one of these circles and while several of the locals are excited and thrilled at the idea that aliens have come to the area, Barnaby is searching for a far more plausible reason for the killing.

The second victim is found electrocuted in a car and the third, in yet another crop circle. Needless to say, the whole are in agog with the possibilities and buzzing with rumours but still, Tom will have none of it in spite of a local author who claims to have proof of alien visitation and several prominent citizens believing the story. It's only by going back over 40 years and doing some thorough investigating that Barnaby finds out the real truth behind the deaths.
