  • Gerald Farquarhson, the Lord of the Manor is celebrating the success of local boxer, John Kinsella whilst at the same time re-enacting a famous fight which took place on the grounds of his estate 150 years ago.

Gerald is a genial man who always has time for a chat and likes to talk about the good old days. He is far more popular in the village than his pompous son, whom, it seems, is disliked by most people. A bit of a boxer himself in his day, he collects knuckledusters and finds that one is missing.

Gera;d throws a type of garden party for local hero boxer, John Kinsella, who has just won an international world title fight. Among those attending are two a solicitor and his secretary, who, over a period of time, end up dead, as does Kinsella's manager. Barnaby and Jones must find out who is responsible whilst dealing with a whole plethora of strange interpersonal relationships within the village. Who would want these particular individuals dead, and why? That is the question.

A pretty mediocre episode which had a very predictable ending and a killer who was obvious from the early part of the program. There is, however, a very nice twist right at the end which is worth waiiting for.
