Season 1 Episode 9

Less Than 20,000 Squid Heads Under the Sea

  • Trivia

    • In the beginning, Virgil says the world is in immediate danger. The adventure shown in this episode is unplanned, and was basically a distraction from whatever task Virgil had in mind. So what is it that needed to be done in the first place, and how come nothing horrible happened without it being done? The next episode makes no reference to that issue either.

  • Quotes

  • Notes

    • Virgil's means of summoning: Max's football coach received a special play from Virgil which had Max catch a Touchdown pass straight into a portal.

    • Calamaris was a villain in the Man Eater playset in the Doom Zones line of the Mighty Max toys.

  • Allusions

    • 20,000 Leagues Under The Sea

The title, and indeed a good bit of the plot, are taken from the Jules Verne novel "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea". Max even makes a reference to Captain Nemo, the main character of the book.

    • The Oil Tycoon looked very similar to Colonel Sanders from Kentucky Fried Chicken.

    • Max: Those who can - do; those who can't - hide!

A proverb quoted in different variations. It basically goes along the lines of "Those who can - do; those who cannot - teach". Sometimes followed by "Those who cannot teach - preside".
