When Max is summoned by Virgil, he's surprised to find another boy with him- and even more surprised to learn that this boy might be the true Cap Bearer. A series of tests are carried out so the identity of the true Mighty One can be revealed.moreless
All in all, I thought this was a fairly weak episode, and Mighty Max is capable of being a lot better. The premise is silly. Virgil might have backed the wrong horse when he sent the cap to the kid who's taken on Skull Master, Cyber Skull, mutants, aliens, dragons, werewolves, and beaten them every single time? And, for that matter, without a gob of magic powers (I'm looking at you, Jake Long and June Lee). Nope, just the ability to think on his feet and a bagload of snappy one-liners. And *spoiler ahead* the only reason Maximilian is supposedly not the real Mighty One is because...he was Skull Master's dupe? Huh? *end spoiler* Max vs. Max has significance continuity wise, but isn't really to be watched as a sample of Mighty Max's quality.moreless
Virgil's means of summoning: Placing a message in the abridged version of the Charles Dickens' book A Tale of Two Cites. The message is "It was the best of times, it was the worst of times. It was time for the capbearer to report to the portal in the school swimming pool".
Edit
Educational Epilogue: The Himalayan Mountains (the legend of the abominable snowman and the lost city of Shambhala).
Edit
Skull Master:(slowly and deviously) Where is it, Mighty One?
Max: Oh, what? The men's room? I think it's right around...
Skull Master: The ARCANA!
Edit
Virgil: Skull Master, let the boy go.
Skull Master: Reveal the location of the Arcana, and I will. Deny me, and I'll the cut the boy a new smile!
