  • Weak. The idea was good: make an episode where the mission is more personal, where you gotta save Mom {i really like her as a character, btw} instead of the World, or yourself. But then they botched it.moreless

It might be influenced by H. P. Lovecraft's "The Case of Charls Dexter Ward". I bet this laurae-wearing emperor of the gorillas was a descendant of the White Ape Princess {the region fits, and you'll notice the emperor's fur was white}... but that only gives this episode yet another concept it can shame by all of its inconsistancies!

This civilization has developed in perfect isolation from the outside world, yet they speak English, and have perfectly Roman style of warfare and dressing. Also, where the hell do you get WHITE HUMANS, in the middle of the Congo, to be your slaves? The culture has obviously been built on the use of slaves {check out theyr pyramids, for example}, so the human slaves can't merely be a new thing, that only started when white men began prowling Africa. Mreh, makes no sence. :=/moreless

    • When charging into the gorilla army, several of the humans are shown wielding stone maces. Where did they get those, if they were too scared of the gorillas to stand up to them until Max came along? Edit

    • Virgil's means of summoning: An airplane spells out a smoke message that says, "Max, go to the library." Edit
    • Educational epilogue: Gorillas. Edit
    • A remark made by Norman, "This reminds me of that time with the Philistines," is meant to imply that he was the Biblical strongman Samson. Edit

    • Max's Mom: I don't know, Virgil. Do you think Max is okay? Virgil: Oh, don't worry. I'm sure he'll be alright. I mean it's only a bloody thirsty eight-hundred pound gorilla wanting to tear him limb from limb. He's faced much worse. Max's Mom: Gee, thanks. Edit
    • Max: I don't think my mom would understand if I became "Max of the Jungle." Edit
