When McDougal knocked the Chief Constable out in the castle, she took his clothes to cover herself {hers were obviously either torn in the transformation, or left behind prior to it}. When she returns to her lab, however, neither Max nor Cameron seem to even notice she's wearing a constable's uniform.
(Upon finding Max and Cameron in her lab) McDougal: Well now, a good evening to you both. The silverware's in the kitchen, and you'll find some heirlooms in the den. Would ye be wanting anything else?
Cameron: Great Scott, what's been done to them?! They're immortal creatures, and yet barely alive!
Max: Aye! Err, I mean yeah!
Max: ...Open Sesame! ...Open Saskatchewan! ...Open or I'm gonna be dead meat!
Norman: Give the word, Mighty one, and we can be out of here. Virgil: Norman, no! That is, ugh - without law, there is only chaos. After all, we are innocent. We must wait for the chief constable to let us go. Max: Thank you, Socrates.
Chief Constable: Aye, part of being an American, lad - you'll be buying anything.
Virgil's means of summoning: He mails a video tape to "Mr. Max" with directions to the series of portals Max needs to take to Dunneglen.
Educational epilogue: Scottish castles.
Max: Thank you, Socrates. According to Plato, when Socrates was imprisoned and awaiting his death sentence, he had a conversation with another inmate, who believed he can break them both out of the dungeon. Socrates turned his suggestion down, and convinced him that breaking out of jail - even if you're innocent and have been wrongly accused, or if the law is unjust - is always wrong.
