  • A very unnatural progression of a proposal ends in a bittersweet finale.

When a show is mainly about two people it's always tricky to enter the marriage part of it all too soon. That's why when Mike is confronted with the possibility of marrying Molly it feels forced and very soon. Seven months is a ridiculous short time for anyone to get engaged and so the topic doesn't have to be that big of deal.

For the sake of comedy the situation becomes awkward and both parties have to find help from their comedic best friends and parents. Never does the episode get extremely funny though the relationship of Mike's mother with her boyfriend is by far the funnest. Melissa McCarthy can do no wrong in my eyes and she is a little ball of sunshine through out the episode too bad her co-star has no facial expression what so ever. It ruins the chemistry and the possibility of anyone buying into a possible proposal. The episode however saves itself by a lovely proposal that actually feels genuine. That and the camera passing by every cast member as the main couple tells each other they love each other makes up for a decent finale.moreless

  • QUOTES (4)

    • Peggy: Quit calling him my boyfriend. I told you, he's just a fellow from my church that I'm seeing socially.
Molly: Socially? Is that what you kids are calling it these days?
      (Mike and Molly laugh)
Peggy: I'm not amused by the tramp talk.

    • Carl: Well, I can honestly say I am not done with my bachelor-hood. Yeah, Carl McMillan has a lot of livin' and lovin' to do.
Grandma: Then you need to get out of my closet and go find a woman. Shoot, I have to cover my eyes to even reach in and grab an umbrella.

    • Carl: Hey, there's nothing wrong with a man taking his time and not acting impulsively.
Grandma: Oh please, the only reason you didn't marry that mail-order Russian bride is because you've maxed out your credit card having phone sex.
Carl: That was not phone sex, that was a singles chatroom.
Grandma: M-hm. And was everybody else in the chatroom sitting in their grandma's hall closet with their hand down their pants?
Carl: You ever heard of knocking?
Grandma: You ever heard of knocking it off?

    • Carl: Please tell me this ain't about your weight? 'Cuz you've been losing and gaining the same 14 pounds since I met you.
Mike: It's not that - I've made peace with the fact that I'm always going to be a little bit stocky.
      Carl: Stocky?
      Mike: Let it go!
