During the scene where Emma examines the motel crime scene, a TV with The X-Files can be heard playing in the background.
Though the two gunmen are heavily armoured and have protective vests/helmets etc. Both have completely exposed arms and hands. It seems very strange, given the amount of police firepower and snipers that someone wouldn't think to simply shoot them both in the arms, which would have rendered them incapable of firing any more rounds! I understand from a story point of view it was necessary to prolong the scene, but from a logic point of view it doesn't make much sense.
Revealing Mistakes: When the car is swerving in the scene with Hollis and Van Horn if you look in the bottom left of the screen, you can see a shadow from the camera vehicle.
This episode was inspired in part by the famous LAPD shootout that took place outside of North Hollywood's Bank of America on February 28, 1997. During this shootout, several heavily armed bank robbers wearing full body armor attacked police after a failed robbery attempt.
