This is the type of episode Millennium became really good at telling in Season 2, with more international machinations and conspiracies. In this case, we have Yaponchik, who may have been responsible for Chernobyl and could be the Anti-Christ. Good support from Bill Nunn as the NYPD detective Frank teams up with, and also from Yuri, Frank's Russian ally whose fall from grace is so devastating in the final act. Some of the shootings are grisly even by Millennium's standards, but the story itself is so well done, these can be overlooked. The scene in the Russian church is lit beautifully and Mark Snow is one of the most underappreciated composers in television. His work in this episode especially is brilliant. The sweeping action, the grand story line, epic in nature. These religious-heavy thrillers took center stage in Season 2 of Millennium and "Marantha" gets the ball rolling in style.moreless
