Revealing Mistakes: When Frank is leaving the hospital after exposure, the doctor calls him "Mr. Cack" instead of "Mr. Black".
Frank Black: (to Lara Means) You know, it's refreshing to hear someone even more cynical than I am.
When Tamara's ID is revealed, her birthdate is listed as September 11, 1970. This is not the first time that a Chris Carter series has unknowingly prognosticated the fall of the two towers--the pilot of The Lone Gunmen, a spin-off of The X-Files, had a plot similar to that of the September eleventh event, but the entire series aired before September of 2001.
Features the song "The Forest on Fire" by the Peking Opera.
The majority of the first half of the episode could be partially influenced by Rashomon. Rashomon is a movie about a bunch of people giving different accounts of the same event, and it displays a theme of how all accounts are true, and there is no one single truth, which is completely stated by Tamara when Frank is interrogating her.
Episode Title: Siren
In Greek Mythology a siren was a sea nymph (half woman and half bird), that lured sailors along rocky coasts of their islands with irresistible singing voices, where they were shipwrecked and devoured by them.
