Miss Marple

Show Summary

Miss Marple is an amateur detective created by famed mystery writer Agatha Christie. Marple, an elderly spinster, is always able to solve crimes that the professionals cannot, because of her keen eye and her experience with all the foibles of human nature through the years in her home town of St. Mary Mead in England. These 12 BBC productions are adaptations of the 12 novels Christie wrote about Miss Marple, originally published between 1930 and 1976.

  • The best ever adaptation of Miss Marple.

    10
This is the best ever adaptation of Miss Marple. Joan Hickson does an excellent job and Agatha Christie herself thought that Joan should play the role and she plays it superbly. There are 12 episodes based on the feature-length Miss Marple books. The films may be old, but they never fail to impress. They are shown rarely on BBC2, partly because the new version of 'Agatha Christie's Marple' is shown on ITV1. Joan Hickson is perfect in the role. She really does do well! She knits, she's elderly, she uses her brain and she talks slowly, like the impression I get from the books.moreless
