  • Miss Marple investigates the death of an intolerable bully.

    9.0
So many people wanted to murder the obnoxious Colonel Protheroe, and one might even sympathise with some of their reasons. Yet Miss Marple, whose warmth and generosity do not prevent her from having a coldly analytical eye, is able to work out why the colonel died and to identify the killer. Long-held friendships cannot be allowed to get in the way of her logic, and they don't. As always in the best Marple stories, there is a terrible pain lurking just under the deceptively tranquil surface of village life, and both strength and weakness are found in the places where you'd least expect them.moreless
