Miss Spider's Sunny Patch Friends

Season 2 Episode 8

Pitch and Itch; Bounce Back

Aired Daily 10:00 AM Mar 23, 2006 on Treehouse

  • Trivia

    • "Pitch and itch" features the earliest appearance of Spiderus's daughter, Bella. Spiderus's children weren't born until "Lulla-Bug," suggesting this story was aired well out of production order.

  • Quotes

    • Miss Spider: Sometimes a thoughtless remark can be like casting a spell.
      Bounce: I'm not a baby.
Squirt: I'm really sorry I called you one, Bounce.

    • Holley: Smiles have a funny way of finding their way back onto your face.
Miss Spider: You just have to figure out how you lost it in the first place.

    • Holley: Goodness. You all look sadder than junebugs in December.

    • Jester Stinky: Just leave it up to the old Stinky Meister.
Knight Dragon: (covering his nose) Would you please make it snappy, forsooth?

    • Jester Stinky: Hmm? A smiling potion?
Dame Shimmer: Indeed. We fear that Sir Bounce-a-Lot has fallen under a smell... I mean spell.

    • Squirt: Your smile can't have gone far. We'll just have to find it.

    • Squirt: Where'd your smile go, Bounce?
Bounce: I guess I must have lost it.

    • Bounce: Tiny Tick?! Where are you?
Squirt: Forget Tiny Tick. Stuffed toys are just for babies.
Bounce: Huh? I'm not a baby.

    • Bounce: This carpet isn't very magic.
Squirt: It's not magic at all, Bounce. Mom was right. Three seeds for a silly old leaf.

    • Miss Spider: There are a dozen nice leaves in the yard.
Bounce: But they're not magic, Mom.

    • Holley: Seeds don't grow on trees, kids.
Squirt: Um... yes they do, Dad.
Holley: Oh, well yes, I suppose they do, but that doesn't mean you should waste them.

    • Holley: Magic carpets, huh? Sounds too good to be true.

    • Spiderus: Three seeds for one leaf? Now who in their right mind would trade seeds for a leaf, when they can be picked free all over Sunny Patch?!
Ted: These are not just leaves.
Ned: These are magic carpets! All the way from...
Ted: From a faraway land! Yeah. The poppy-red color goes great with any decor.

    • Ted: Ned, we have found exactly what we're looking for. A get-food-quick scheme.

    • Holley: Maybe you bugs should find your own seeds for once.
Ned: (laughing riotously with Ted) Find our food.
      Ted: That's a good one.

    • Dragon: I know what will make you smile. A good joke. Knock knock.
      Bounce: Who's there?
      Dragon: Ames.
      Bounce: Ames who?
Dragon: A mosquito bit me and it really itches. (Everyone but Bounce bursts out laughing.)
Shimmer: (still laughing) My thorax hurts.

  • Notes

    • Alice Prodanou is the writer for the first story and Lynn Reist is the director. Nadine van der Velde is the writer for "Bounce Back" and Neil Affleck is the director.

    • Pansy reads the title displays for both "Pitch and Itch" and "Bounce Back."

  • Allusions

    • Holley saying "Seeds don't grow on trees" is a parody to the phrase, "Money doesn't grow on trees".

    • Shimmer: So the brave knights trekked to the pond on their way to seek help from the Wondrous Wizard of Bog.

A reference to The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, a powerful wizard featured in a book by the same name written by L. Frank Baum and first published in 1900, later popularized by a feature film in 1939 starring Judy Garland as the story's heroine, Dorothy.
