Warning: possible spoilers.
The decision not to renew Missing for a second season was taken before the finale was aired.
So why the last two minutes were kept on the finale? The last two minutes bring nothing to the first and unique season but a cliff-hanger for the defunct second season.
I don't understand how the executives in charge of the series manage their asset.
Taking full responsibility for their own decision would have conducted them to omit those two last minutes.
If someone has an explanation, thanks for sharing it.
