Decoy
AIRED:

Anna Kerkoska plans to defect with a list of American agents given to her by her father, the late Premier. Her brother Alexi also plans to defect, but it's actually a plan to grab the list, turn it over to Police Chief Petrovitch, and sell out his sister. Jim and Dana pretend to be a publisher brother-and-sister team and Paris kidnaps Dana to fake-force Jim to kidnap Anna for the Americans.

    • TRIVIA (3)

      • When Petrovich summons Alexi to his office and asks him if he's seen Paris before, the camera cuts to a low shot and the edge of the office ceiling can be seen showing the sound stage above and beyond.

      • There is a continuity glitch when Dana calls Jim the second time and tells him to get Alexi and Anna to Danov's funeral. There is then a scene with Petrovich and Stefan reading up on the Danov funeral, because he's been listening in on the phone conversations. Then there's a brief scene of Barney and Dana at the warehouse. But then there's a scene of Stefan informing Petrovich that Jim is to take Anna and Alexi to the Danov funeral, even though Petrovich already knows that from the previous scene.

      • Even with the mourning dress, Dana looks almost nothing like Anna. However, Petrovich and the agents who have been watching her before don't realize that she's an imposter.

    • QUOTES (4)

      • Anna: Oh, but I want to hear about America. Is everyone a gangster?
        Jim: Yes.
        Anna: Yes?
        Jim: No, not quite.
Anna: Of course not. There are publishers.
        Jim: Too many.
Anna: And hillbillies, rock groups, Indians, and everyone carries a gun. Do you carry a gun?
        Jim: No, I don't carry a gun.
Anna: No? Then perhaps our propaganda people are lying to us. Could that he be possible?
Jim: Oh, I don't think propaganda people ever lie but I suppose it is possible.

      • Anna: I could never understand my father. How could he be so many things at once?
        Jim: Some men are.
Anna: You are too, aren't you? So formal, so proper. And yet I can feel... something I've never felt about any man. So loving.

      • Petrovitch: You are here because I was ordered by the Chairman and the Central Committee to remind you how important it is that we acquire the document your father entrusted to your sister. to suggest subtly but firmly that you are sole responsible for success of this plan if it succeeds. And also solely responsible if it fails. In the one case you'll be given a medal. the other, you will be shot.

      • Anna: Why is it all the beautiful things come at all the wrong times?
Jim: I don't know what that means.
