Mission: Impossible

Season 7 Episode 3

The Deal

Aired Saturday 9:00 PM Sep 30, 1972 on CBS

  • Trivia

    • After Willy is shot and the boat abandons him, a far shot of Willy and the retreating boat is shown. In the lower left corner of the screen a section of another boat (probably the boat with the camera) briefly appears in the supposedly deserted waters. [This is only visible on flatscreen TVs and monitors.]

    • Why does the IMF use blood-tranquilizer bullets during the fake execution - they've already replaced Rogan's man Chalmer with an IMF lookalike.

  • Notes

    • Mimi appears in this episode, Casey does not.

    • Peter Lupus was almost killed during a filming of a stunt where he fell into the freezing water during a shooting stunt and required rescuing.

    • According to Peter Lupus, almost immediately after he was hauled back on board after cramping up in the cold water, the Navy sharpshooters on board spotted sharks. The director, Martinson, still needed a shot of Willy swimming away, but the stunt man, understandably, did not think much of the idea. The director then "accidentally" bumped into the stuntman and knocked him overboard, and more or less said, "As long as you're in there..." The man was promised a bonus (whether he got it or not is anyone's guess). The sharks kept their distance, and the shot was made successfully.
