  • Nive but plot holes......

The Plot has an unrealistic timeline to beleive in-as the real princess {If she had lived} was now an elderly woman-then Qaisette-who as a Major had killed her family years before would have been considerbly OLDER than the Princesss would have been in real life! ALso Willy is shown using a hammer and chisel to get through the wall--certainly a teckno wiz like Barney would have used a laser!
  • Bain Is Terrific!

This episode - probably beyond all others - shows that Cinnamon Carter can be a distraction, even without her beauty and wiles. Well done opener and very atmospheric.
  • The start of Season 3 finds the show's greatest cast firing on all cylinders.

After a dynamite second season and with a returning lead actor, "Mission: Impossible" storms into its third year with a fantastic episode that finds the show hitting all of its marks and making it seem effortless. By this time, Martin Landau, Barbara Bain, Greg Morris and Peter Lupus have their characters down and Peter Graves has had a year to refine and perfect Jim Phelps. We jump right into the mission here...no dossier scene (as if there's any doubt who Jim is going to select!)

Everybody does great work this episode, particularly Landau and Bain. Landau is not only great as a washed up doctor pressured by the secret police, but he has one of his best scenes as he removes his disguise piece by piece...in public!...during the tense climax. And Bain is given one of her meatiest roles as the poseur heir to the throne.

"Mission" was hitting this season just as the TV spy craze of the 60s was starting to wind down. Before Bain and Landau left, they at least stuck around for this season. With a formula that worked and a cast that knew what they were doing, "Heir Apparent" is a great start to what was (IMO) the last really GREAT season of "Mission: Impossible."
