Strikingly similar to "The Diamond" in Season 1, "The Money Machine" is still a strong episode, thanks largely to Brock Peters as the corrupt financier. Whenever the IMF had a genuine bad guy to take down, the plot is always more fun to watch, and Peters (forever immortalized as Tom Robinson in "To Kill a Mockingbird") is smug and slimy as the villain of the week.

Once again, the team concocts a "machine" that will give the villain exactly what he wants...or so he thinks. I admit the mechanics of the printer are clever, and so is the ruse the team uses to bring down Peters' guard. It's not a bad show, but it is very reminiscent of the earlier episode.moreless

FILTER BY TYPE

  • TRIVIA (3)

    • In the final scene where the members of the IM Force are leaving with the captured money paper in tow, the California license plate of the get-away truck is easily seen as are the CA plates of the parked cars, the episode takes place in the fictitious African nation of Ghalea.

    • In the scene where Walter Dubruis confronts Rollin Hand about the location of the money counterfeiting computer, Dubruis' aide, Anton Bouchet reads a newly arriving teletype message that has "companies" misspelled as "companys."

    • Trivia: The briefing tape recorder is a much smaller palm-sized model then usual, and Jim destroys it by tossing it into a garbage can where it explodes.

  • QUOTES (1)

    • DuBruis: As you know, Giroux, I am not without influence.
Giroux: In this case, Mr. DuBruis, it may only get you a cell with a view.
