    • TRIVIA (2)

      • Descriptive Video Service, provided by WGBH, neglected to extoll the details of the Owl Correspondence School plaque that appears at the end of Cousin Mary Owl's Tree Video. The plaque has an "established" date which DVS does not announce. By all looks of things, Owl Correspondence School was established in 1968.

      • Henrietta Pussycat tells Mayor Maggie that the tree in which she and X the Owl live is a make-believe tree. This contradicts Lady Aberlin's declaration that X's is an oak tree—a statement made 19 years before. X the Owl also said in August 1992 that he lives in "the Old Oak Tree."

    • NOTES (2)

      • At last, Fred Rogers uses the model of the Eiffel Tower for the first time since 1982. He had definitely come down to now-or-never time.

      • This is the only show in which closed-captioning of Grand-père's speech shows all the French accent marks. WGBH had been doing upper- and lower-case captioning for 10½ months before this program aired. One can only wonder how different captions of all Grand-père's other discussions might have looked had the WGBH policy been in effect years before.
