Rogers brings a wood puzzle with intricate parts. Rogers takes it apart, but cannot put it together. The important thing was that someone made that puzzle from wood that was going to be thrown away. Rogers recalls his visit to the McFeely house (video flashback from 1972), where Mrs. McFeely showed a bird feeder made from a milk carton, a pillow made from a torn sheet, and a rug made from wool clothes. Rogers adds, "It's good to have memories that don't wear out, no matter how much you think about them." Mr. McFeely brings a videotape of his visit to Leo Sewell's studio. Sewell is a sculptor who makes items from discarded pieces. While Sewell is making a new sculpture, Mr. McFeely is amazed at the different parts that have made a marlin, an elephant, and a cat.
In the NOM, Handyman Negri is fanning the Castle grounds in a valiant, but futile, attempt to cut down the smell of all the garbage. Mayor Maggie has emerged from her meeting with King Friday hoping to find another garbage dump. Lady Aberlin has a map of the area. They have yet to check the dumps in Southwood and Northwood. Lady Elaine suggests they could send their garbage on an airplane, but Lady Aberlin suggests she call Betty Okonak Templeton in Southwood. They dial 555-672-438 and get Betty (recorded at a different time, presumably because of a conflict in Michael Horton's schedule). Lady Elaine says the NOM has no room in the area garbage dump, but Southwood doesn't have room either. Lady Aberlin takes a call from Handyman Negri. Old Goat and a goat friend are supposed to be on their way from Northwood. Lady Aberlin encounters Hilda Dingleboarder at the Factory working on some kind of invention. In a sense, this has to do with garbage. At the Castle, King Friday gives a battery-operated fan to an exhausted Handyman Negri. Lady Aberlin reports mostly bad news to the King. Only two goats remain to help everyone.
Back at the television house, Rogers puts the pieces of the wood puzzle in a basket. He will ask someone to help him put the puzzle back together.
