Season 19 Episode 11

Josephine the Short-Neck Giraffe (1)

Aired Unknown May 01, 1989 on PBS

Episode Recap

Rogers shows models of a giraffe, an elephant, and a tiger. He gets a camera in preparation for his visit to the Wild Animal Park. He and Mr. McFeely look at the birds (including Mr. McFeely's favorite: the flamingos) and tigers. Dr. Joan Embery continues the lecture, showing Rogers eland (largest antelopes) rhinos and giraffes. Joel Edelstein rides Rogers and Embery in a truck to see the elephants and giraffes up close. In the NOM, Queen Sara tells Chef Brockett of her as-yet-unseen friend Princess Zelda. Apparently Zelda wants Chef Brockett to play a bulldog for her upcoming play. She also has told Lady Aberlin she wants a short-neck giraffe. Brockett proudly recommends Lady Aberlin the giraffe role. Aberlin sees Daniel Tiger, who feels bad that he isn't like other tigers. Lady Aberlin says Daniel is an advanced breed of tiger, which is part of being unique.
