  • Notes

    • The first color episode from 1969 would never been on the air again after 1983. However, it does exist at the Museum of Television and Radio in New York.

    • The Trolley illustration also served a modernizing purpose: replacing the NET closing identification. If you want a description of the old NET closing ID, replete with synthesized music by jingle composer Eric Siday, click here.

    • This was the first color television visit for Fred Rogers.

    • The numbering system takes a large jump at this point. This is the 131st program, but, for its second season, the show adopted a new tactic. All shows from here on were marked with four-digit production codes.

These four-digit episode numbers were used on-screen for the first time February 23, 1976. With production of the series going into hiatus, PBS reran all the color episodes, editing them at the ends. All airings of these "pre-79" shows from February 23, 1976 on, ended with a Trolley illustration and the episode number hanging from the Mister Rogers' Neighborhood logo.
