Mizu no Kotoba - Special, known in English as Aquatic Language, is a Japanese short film designed to speak to people of all nationalities through a story that combines a variety of visual effects and techniques to illustrate the undying importance of language and human communication. This inventive film is written and directed by acclaimed filmmaker Yasuhiro Yoshiura, who has also created such works as Pale Cocoon and Time of Eve. Yoshiura has won eleven awards for his achievement in filmmaking and script writing, and his talent shines through clearly in this outstanding nine-minute film. The film features original music from Japanese composer Satoshi Watanabe, and it employs stylized visuals and clever writing to create a message promoting the essential need for communication between humans. Yoshiura mixes two and three dimensional photography in this film, as well as the dynamic camera angles and scenery he's known for.
