  • Did NOT See That Coming

This is very reminiscent of Game 1 of the 2010 World Series when San Francisco beat up on Texas ace Cliff Lee. Like Verlander, Lee was seen as unstoppable and once Lee was beat, it felt like so were the Rangers. I'm not sure what to make of this, but it sure feels like the same thing.

The Giants (Pablo Sandoval) hit three home runs and they are the team that hit the fewest on the majors this year. The Giants poured it on the Rangers in 2010 as well after a rather meek regular season in which their pitching carried the day in most games. I'll guess we'll see how this Series unfolds, but unless the Tigers rebound, it will likely unfold quickly.
  • Game 1 Tigers Giants

The Tigers were counting on Justin Verlander to keep them in this thing. In the end, he's the one that kept them out of it. A rare bad start from their ace, capped off by two home runs from Pablo Sandoval. Kung fu Panda, as he is affectionately named, went on to add a third homer, in a legendary performance by the player, a guy who was not even an integral part of the Giants run in 2010.

Detroit had a little flurry late, but this was all San Francisco to start things off, and it could be trouble after just one night for the AL representative. They need to find a way to slow the Giants bats.
