      • The parents of Los Angeles starter Orel Hershiser, Orel III and Millie, were honored before the game and threw out the ceremonial first pitches.

      • Oakland Athletics left fielder Dave Parker accounted for all his team's hits with three singles. It was only the second time in World Series that one player accounted for all three of his team's hits.
