    • TRIVIA (4)

      • Final Score
        Oakland 13 San Francisco 7
        Oakland leads series 3-0

      • Game 3, originally scheduled for October 17, was delayed for ten days due to the Loma Prieta earthquake, which struck at 5:04 PM. It was the first major earthquake in the United States ever to be broadcast by live television as ABC's coverage of the game had just begun.
The ten days between Games 2 and 3 was the longest delay in World Series history.

      • Oakland's five home runs tied a World Series for the most home runs by one team in a single game. The other team to accomplish the feat was the New York Yankees in Game 4 of the 1928 World Series against the St. Louis Cardinals.
Oakland also joined the 1928 Yankees as the only two teams in World Series history to hit two home runs in each of two innings.

      • The seven combined home runs set a World Series for the most home runs by both teams in one game.

    • QUOTES (3)

      • Oakland Right Fielder Jose Canseco: It really didn't feel like a World Series atmosphere when we were warming up. But once the first pitch was thrown, people got back into it. I don't think anyone on our side is predicting the Series is over. We're not taking anything for granted.

      • San Francisco Manager Roger Craig: Maybe we were a little rusty. They looked sharper than we did. Right now, they're a better club.
(on planning a new strategy for Game 4)
San Francisco Manager Roger Craig: Play my outfielders deeper. Maybe put them on the other side of the fence.

      • (after the The Loma Prieta earthquake on October 17)
Commissioner Fay Vincent: Ladies and gentlemen, we are postponing the game because there is no power in the stadium. We would like for you to leave in an orderly way. I don't think there's any grave danger, but we have no idea when the power's going to be on and we have to get people out of here before it gets dark.
