      San Francisco leads series 3-0

    • This game marks the first time that a team has shutout their opponent in consecutive World Series games since 1966 when the Baltimore Orioles shutout the Los Angeles Dodgers for a record 33 consecutive innings. The streak began in the fourth inning of Game 1 and continued through Games 2, 3, and 4.
      .
The last time a National League team recorded two consecutive World Series shutouts was in 1919 when the Cincinnati Reds won Games 4 and 5 by scores of 2-0 and 5-0 over the Chicago White Sox. 1919 was the year of the infamous Black Sox scandal when Chicago was found guilty of throwing the Series.

    • MLB dedicated Game 3 to youth, especially those in underserved communities.
The ceremonial first pitch was thrown out by former Tiger great Al Kaline to Justin Verlander.
The national anthem was sung by Zooey Deschanel of the FOX program New Girl.
God Bless America was sung by Staff Sgt. Amy Gould of the 126th Army Band.

      .
San Francisco Manager Bruce Bochy: Well, it's a good situation, but there's nothing been done yet. It's a number, just like I said about two. Now it's three. But that's not the Series.

    • Detroit Manager Jim Leyland: Well, you don't really have to tell them anything. They can count. They're big guys, they know what the situation is.

    • San Francisco Starter Vogelsong: I knew my stuff was pretty good. I was really pumped up to be out there.
      .
San Francisco Starter Vogelsong: I'm blessed. I really am. I'm blessed. I don't really know what else to say other than that.
