    • TRIVIA (3)

    • QUOTES (3)

      • (on Pedro Guerrero's seventh inning home run that tied the game 1-1)
New York Starter Ron Guidry: The pitch to Guerrero was a good pitch. He must have guessed right. The only pitch I second-guessed myself on was to (catcher Steve) Yeager. It was a fastball and I got burned (by a home run).
Los Angeles Right Fielder Pedro Guerrero: He threw it right where I wanted it. I like to hit the ball low. (First base coach) Manny Mota yelled at me to stay down, get a better look at the ball and don't swing too hard. I had been swinging too hard.

      • (on his starter Jerry Reuss)
Los Angeles Manager Tommy Lasorda: When we got Jerry from Pittsburgh, we made him discard that curveball and he's been very successful since.

      • Los Angeles Starter Jerry Reuss: We weren't ready for the first two games in New York. We had just come from three tough games in Montreal, where we had to battle cold weather. And 24 hours later, we were in the World Series. We didn't have time to sit back and think about where we were and what we were doing.
Los Angeles Starter Jerry Reuss: It's all come together for me now. I've been working 15 years to get here. The only time I've been happier in my life was when I saw my son (Jason) being born.
