The Godfather an iconic novel by Mario Puzo which was made into the even more famous series of motion pictures by Francis Ford Coppola is parodied in the subplot of this episode by godfather Phil Dunphy and his sonny Luke. We see the hilarious severed head from a toy zebra placed in the bed of an adversary also a caution to Claire never to ask about business.
