  • About this episode

    This had wonderful directing.
  • This was one of the best.

But the only scene were Manny was in was in the car which was about 2 short sentences

and at the Dunphys where he had 1 line.

    Otherwise a halerious episode.
  • LOVED IT!!!

One of my favourite episodes. Everything just lined up PERFECTLY. I don't know what to say except for THAT ROCKED.
  • Halloween episode

This was the first Halloween episode and it was a great one. I enjoy all episodes where the family is together. I like how Claire is really into Halloween. Kind of like she tries to do in other things, she tries to be too controlling. It's weird that it works out in the end, while not working at first. As is you didn't need any reminder, Phil gets jolted when his neighbor is going through the divorce. The way he acts it's funny but you don't feel sorry for him. I also enjoyed how Hailey thinks her costumes are not bad. I enjoyed seeing Cameron talk and talk about his past Halloween experience. It was typical Cameron. I also enjoyed Mitchell's Part. The way it was shot, it was kind of like a movie. I am glad not music was added. The best part is when he was climbing down the building. Gloria trying to speak regular English was very funny. At the end where everyone is making fun of Gloria for what she said and Jay explaining his past job was done greatly. A great Halloween episode.moreless
  • A great episode

I understand I'm that reviewer on the website who complains every week about Modern Family's inability to do continuity. Sure, they do day-to-day plots and have recurring gags, specifically the step on the stairs that refuses to be fixed, but there's no story arcs to follow with characters. I was pleased to see that not only was there a occurrence of characters and ideas from a previous episode here, but that the episode it was in was fantastic. Plenty of jokes to go around here, both subtle and in-your-face, laugh-out-loud funny.

There was a lot of plots going on here too, so it's easy to see how it some of them could've fallen flat on their faces. Claire wants the entire family to come together and create a convincing and eerie haunted house for trick-or-treaters and struggles to get everybody on the same page, Phil learns the neighbor got divorced out of the blue because he wasn't spontaneous and sexy enough, so Phil decides to do a pre-emptive strike and be spontaneous and sexy, Mitchell struggles at his new job after he makes a mistake and accidentally dresses up when nobody else does, Cameron has a haunted past involving Halloween while Jay and Gloria get in a fight over Gloria's accent and she begins using a horribly forced American accent.

With so much going on, it's difficult to see how it worked as well as it did. And it's all a testament to the writing of the episode. There was some superb lines and scenes (my favorite has to go to Jay, who says last year, he went to Halloween as Snoop Dogg because Haley took his hat and put it backwards and told him to say it. Also, he thought Snoop Dogg was a dog detective. Amazing.) I also enjoyed Gloria's role in tonight's episode.. and the kids have been on a role as of late. People complain about them, but I find them funny.

Yet ANOTHER great episode of Modern Family.moreless
