  • Good to Very good.

Start could be better in some ways but most parts were epic
  • Cam and Mitch pick out a guardian for Lilly and Luke goes to thearpy

While this was a good episode and had some good moments, I thought this was lacking a bit. Both parts had a little something missing. We all knew Luke was well missing something. Don't get me wrong, he is a great character (Nolan Gould is actually smart in real life), but he is not the brightest bulb in the box. I like that his character was not dumb but not ADHD either. You see that Luke gets that little something from his dad. I thought it was funny that both of Luke's parents end up losing him and Luke eventually finds his way home. The story were Mitchell and Cameron get Lilly a god parent was funny but lacking a bit. I thought it was classic sitcom with the whole situation with Lilly's guardian. My favorite part is when Gloria got really excited when she was told she would Lilly's god parent.moreless

A new episode of Modern Family. What wasn't new? The number of times I laughed (or my terrible jokes about this show.)

The premise here was Mitchell and Cameron searching for the guardians of Lily in the event of their unfortunate demise. Simple enough, but it led to the family spinning out of control as they searched for the couple.

The usual dull Jay and Manny scenes. They just do not know what to do with those two.

Just a real lack of direction here. Clever how they had Phil report that his kids were arrested while Mitchell and Cameron were announcing their decision, but that was one of the weaker attempts of Modern Family to tie things together. Usually that is one of the show's few strong suits.moreless
  • Gloria: I said I was sorry! But I've had them since I was two. Huge ones! Phil: What is she...? Claire: Earrings, Phil. Earrings.

Cam & Mitchell Plot: Then were trying to forb guardinas if something happened to then. The Dunphys were discarded easily ](their house was a mess), and Mitchell considered Gloria and Jay, but Cam didn't like that idea as Mitch blames Jay fro everything of his childhood and Gloria piereced Lilly's ears. But then he has a chat with Manny and they pick Gloria & Jay as guardians.

Manny plot: So he had a camping trip and didn't want to go and made up tons of excuses. Jay took him shiopping for stuff fro the trip and Cam & Mitchell overheard him cirtizing Manny's rock climmbing abilities. But on the ride home Manny tells hjim the truth and Jay understands and tells him he is really brave nomrally so he can let it pass, but he goes to the trip anyways.

Luke plot: Clarie decides to take him to the psychologist cause she doesn't want him to end up like Phil,. HE finsds out and is like really mad and in the middle of the fight they leavbe Luke abandoned, but he gets a ride home from a just-married couple. Clarie then realised he'll be fine.

Alex plot: So Haley has to give Alex a ride to her cello lesson, but the teacher's not home, so they take her to shool to prank a girl who was seducting Dylan when he and Haley broke up. And they they avoid the cops and get in the car and Haley gets that she hates cello and tells Alex that quiting is fine. OVerall: It was a nice episode with humor and heart. Phil & Gloria were hilarious, especially Gloria shouting "All Mine!" and I still love Haley. So yeah, a solid 9/10.moreless
  • Cam and Mitch look for someone to watch over Lily if they die.

Another solid episode of Modern Family tonight.. even if it's not its best, it was still enjoyable. I feel as if the actors have found a comfort zone with each other, and while that means that we sometimes get easy feeling episodes, it also means that us, as the audience, can enjoy the show easier if these actors know who their characters are.

Here, we have three seperate stories with one that arches over the rest: Cam and Mitch decide they want to figure out who Lily's guardian is if something happens to them. As a result, we see the way each family deals with their children. I thought that while Jay, Manny and Gloria's plot was stronger overall in terms of emotional connection, the plot with the Dunphy's was way funnier. Something about the character of Manny irritates me sometimes.. the way the actor plays him is very dry and flat, as if he's reading off of the script instead of just saying the lines naturally.

That being said, I thought the other kid actors had some of their best stuff here tonight. Luke usually is written as this insane child with extreme A.D.D and other weird behavioral issues, but this time, we get to see how normal he is when placed alongside the rest of his family. Maybe our perception of him has been framed by his family's perception of him. Also, I actually liked seeing more of Alex and Haley together... together, they get some of their best lines.

I suppose it wasn't one of the stronger episodes of the season, but the show seems to be picking up a little steam again.moreless
