    • TRIVIA (4)

      • French King Louis XIV often held court from one of his beds. He reportedly owned 413 of them.

      • In 1942, U.S. household alarm clock production halted because factories and materials were needed for the war effort. The resulting epidemic of worker tardiness prompted the government to approve limited production of these clocks using non-war-essential materials.

      • Charles Hall constructed the first modern waterbed in 1968. Popularity peaked in 1987 when waterbeds made up 22% of U.S. mattress sales, but demand waned in the early 1990s.

      • Prior to the invention of the light bulb, adults slept 9-10 hours per night. Post light bulb, average sleep decreased to 7-8 hours.

    • QUOTES (1)

      • Narrator: It's the place where we sleep, where science meets engineering in search of perfect sleep. We'll make your bed, with power tools. And see an alarm clock blast off. Whether you snooze in the sky, in a pod, or a bed fit for a king. It's where sleepers are attacked, dreams are made, and cut short. Now, Bedroom Tech, on Modern Marvels.
