    • TRIVIA (4)

      • Built in the 4th century, the Valens Aqueduct remained the main supplier of Istanbul's water until the late 19th century, when it was replaced by a modern water system.

      • The Blue Mosque is probably Istanbul's most famous landmark. It was built in the 17th century by some of the same stone masons who helped construct the Taj Mahal in India.

      • In 390 A.D. Emperor Theodosius brought an obelisk from Egypt and erected it inside the racing track of the Hippodrome. Only the top section survives, and it stands today where Theodosius placed it, on a marble pedestal.

      • One square meter of floor space at the Great Palace contained about 40,000 tiles, which amounts to about 80,000,000 tiles for the entire mosaic.

    • QUOTES (1)

      • Narrator: Thousands of years of hidden history sit beneath its streets. Peel back the layers of time and find some of the technological wonders of the ancient world.
