  • Brandy Norwood

    Moesha Denise Mitchell

    9.1
Brandy started her singing career in 1994 when she released her self-titled debut 'Brandy'.

1998 brought her sophomore album 'Never Say Never' which catapulted her to a new level of success and hit multi-platinum status. She collaborated with Rodney 'Darkchild' Jerkins who owes Brandy his success,

In 2002 Brandy and Rodney Jerkins teamed up again to deliver 'Full Moon'. Being 'married' and pregnant, Brandy's emotional status reflected heavily in her lyrics. The album went platinum despite only 2 singles being released due to Brandy's pregnancy.

In 2004, after going separate ways with her 'ex-husband' Robert Smith, Brandy released Afrodisiac which was mainly produced by top-producer Timbaland. Despite being more than well-received by the critics, constantly scoring 4/5 and 5/5 everywhere, the album wasn't as popular as her earlier CDs merely selling 500.000 copies. The lack of promotional effort and bad decision making on which singles to release by the record company can be accounted for the CD not being successful. Afrodisiac was certified Gold and only saw 2 singles due to Brandy parting ways with her record company. It was Atlantic Record's unwillingness to let Brandy have a free hand with the tracklisting and single releases which led to the singer leaving Atlantic.

Currently Brandy is recording a new album which is due late '05/early '06. She plans on finishing the recording for the album before teaming up with a new record company, thus giving her all the creative freedom she needs.moreless
