Moll Flanders is a dramatic series based on the highly popular eighteenth century Daniel Defoe novel of the same name and distributed by ITV Global Entertainment, Ltd. Released on October 13, 1996 and written by the award-winning Andrew Davies, the 49-minute episodes are currently available in DVD, online, PC, TiVo and portable device formats. Beginning with her birth in Newgate Prison and separation from her mother in episode one, the tale of survival, cunning and numerous marriages unfolds. The series spanned a mere four episodes, yet memorable characters such as Gaoler (James Bowers), Lemuel Golightly (Tom Ward), James 'Jemmy' Seagrove (Daniel Craig) and the thief, Lucy (Nicola Walker), make an appearance. The book-to-film adaptation, also known as The Fortunes and Misfortunes of Moll Flanders, is directed by David Attwood.
