Monk has scored 2 more Emmy nominations. No surprise, Tony Shalhoub is again nominated for lead actor in a comedy; but the surprise nomination (and my favorite) is for Gena Rowlands, who played Marge in the episode Mr. Monk And The Lady Next Door (which is possibly my favorite from that season).

Here are the categories and the contenders for the award:

Outstanding Lead Actor In A Comedy Series

    Alec Baldwin for 30 Rock
Jemaine Clement for Flight Of The Conchords
    Tony Shalhoub for Monk
Jim Parsons for The Big Bang Theory
    Steve Carell for The Office
Charlie Sheen for Two And A Half Men

Outstanding Guest Actress In A Comedy Series

Jennifer Aniston for 30 Rock · The One With The Cast Of 'Night Court'
Elaine Stritch for 30 Rock · Christmas Special
Gena Rowlands for Monk · Mr. Monk And The Lady Next Door
Betty White for My Name Is Earl · Witch Lady
Tina Fey for Saturday Night Live · Presidential Bash 2008
Christine Baranski for The Big Bang Theory · The Maternal Capacitance

It's going to be hard for Tony to win with Alec Baldwin and Jim Parsons in the same category (Parsons is the all around favorite this year). It's also going to be hard for Gena because of all the stellar women in the category. Just look at the names! Betty White, Christine Baranski, Elaine Stritch, Jennifer Aniston and Tina Fey! I would totally not count on winning this time around - especially with Tina Fey nominated for her Sarah Palin appearances. That is sure to win!

I know, too bad for them. But it's great to be recognized and nominated. When was the last time Tony won an Emmy for this show?
