I liked it. A step up from last year's holiday episode.

Amen to that. I really liked Disher having the moustache, and the Captain shaving his, it was hillarious. (especially the part where Monk held the feather up to "Brother Leland's" face ) I'm really glad that the Captain made Randy shave his off in the end.

I just wish they would let us know what Monk decided at the end. (that and what he meant by, "they make their own gravy" )

I loved when they were all eating dinner and Monk had the portable fan with the air freshener. but the whole episode was awesome.

I think the whole eps was fantastic, specially at the ending when Monk is still wishing for a miracle.

I really liked the scene when Adrian told the "bums" that he retired was funny a lot of funny scenes better than last year

I really liked this episode a lot. It really felt like an old-style Monk from the beginning seasons. The mystery was spot-on and all of the storylines tied in together really well. The humor was definitely there, but it didn't make Monk look dumb. Really great writing on this one with some really deep emotion!

And there was no dumb Randy. Just odd... quirky, Randy.

I think they are going to try to make the last episodes of monk amazing. Bring it back to what it was originally. I can't wait for the Trudy storyline to pick up again.

This board will probably go insane when Trudy's killer is revealed and the whole plot is unraveled

Yeah, this 'Here's what happened' was probably the best one ever, with Monk and Natalie singing to the beat of their chant. And I don't blame Monk for holding up the feather to Stottlemeyer's face. He looks totally different without the moustache.

Plus, for a while, I was under the mistaken assumption that Randy's moustache was fake.

That was very nice to see. I always loved the quirky Randy, much more so compared to the 'baby-ish' Randy that drank Big Gulps and was immature and childish. The writers were WAY on point with this one!

I wish they would keep Randy with the mustache and Leland without for like the rest of the season, it would be really fun to see but I doubt it would happen. Fantastic episode though, my favorites are always the Stottlemeyer-centric episodes and this one was no different. Everything fell into place perfectly with this one.

Also, how awesome was that 'Monk, P.I.' ad they showed towards the end?

A little too Christmas miracley for me but some nice classic scenes and I also liked the chanted "here is what happened".
I hope they do better for the final season though.

Did anyone spot right at the start of the episode when Mr Monk and Julie are talking about his Xmas tree and the camera angle changes between them several times Julie's arms alternate from being at her side to folded?

I love this keen observation of mine.
    It's a blessing.

    And a...well you know! :-)

Hey, does anyone know what kind of binoculars he was using when he was looking at the bums from his car?

I saw what looks like the same ones in the Fox show Fringe, but I think they were not real (they looked to badass and futuristic to be real with the way they collapsed shut).

What I liked was that we saw Monk place Trudy's unopened present at the bace of the cardboard tree in the beginning. I'm seriously wondering what's inside. (Someone once speculated that it might contain a ground-breaking clue to the mystery behind her murder.)

Finally DVRd it. Really enjoyable. Though I did like one of the previous years where someone tried to poison the Captain.

Agreed with all that was said so far. It was also interesting seeing Randy in charge while the captain was out. I kept expecting him to do something stupid-and he didn't.

That happens to be my favorite holiday Monk episode too.
