Part 1 of the very special season finale for Monk. Here we saw the protagonist on the run, a situation most people would not be ecstatic about, but one that he particularly could not stand due to his phobias.

While the situation was a little ridiculous (how could that officer had known that Adrian Monk would be holding a gun at the time?) it sure made for some quality entertainment nonetheless and definitely had that exciting feel that a season finale should have. Monk can be both a funny and a dramatic show, and tonight's episode proved to be both.moreless

  • Mr. Monk Is On The Lam - And might be dangerous

This episode was a nice change from normal episodes: what would happen if you combined Monk with The Fugitive? This is what would happen. Monk has been framed for murdering a six fingered man, a certain Frank Nunn. But he has to go on the lam in order to prove his innocence.

This is a pretty nice episode, with a good amount of the humor we expect from Monk. Hey, the part with him stopping at a campsite, and trying to sew up his pocket really hit the spot. As did Natalie's method of distracting Randy (involving making a smoothie with a power drill, which only makes a very badly mixed substance that has oil in it. Natalie's line about the oil being organic because it comes from the Earth and it lubricates your organs was outright hillarious!).moreless

the episode begins in a store recently robbed. stottlemeyer then tells monk that it was the same matriel used to kill trudy. when monk figures out who did it he goes to a statue store where he expects the suspect to be. it is and monks beats him and points his gun at him then gunshots go through the man but the killer isn't seen on the camera. monk is later arrested for being accused for it andon their way to prison escapes from the van holding him and is on the run. i felt this was an exciting and cleverly plotted episode and i can't wait until part 2 of it.moreless

  • Monk is accused of murdering the guy who built Trudy's bomb...

Wow, this episode was really intense! It had me on the edge of my seat the whole time! OK, so Monk and Natalie are called in on a robbery scene, only when they get there, Stottlemeyer and Randy hold them off, saying there's something inside the building that might upset Monk. They even called Dr. Kroger to make sure it was OK. Monk says that he'll try. Stottlemeyer tells him the list things that were stolen. Monk figures out that the guy was going to build a bomb, and then the captain adds in that only one other time in the past ten years has he seen a bomb like that. The one that killed Trudy. They go on to find a bar that the guy used to pry the door open, and on it, six finger prints. A long time ago, when Sharona was still around, Monk and her went to New York and found a guy that told them the guy who built the bomb had six fingers. Dun dun dun dun!!! Anyway, Monk finds a note at the crime scene that reads, "Forced by the Heavens, Mars shall have a new angel". Natalie is totally clueless as to what this means, but Monk already has it figured out. Later that night, he grabs a pistol from his closet and heads down to a place called Angel on Marshall Avenue. Monk walks in, and sees the man with six fingers. The man, at first, mistakes him for his partner, then realizes he was the cop whose wife he murdered. Monk prepares to shoot him, but can't bring himself to do it. Then suddenly, shots are fired into the man's chest, and he dies. Then a cop shows up and arrests Monk. When Natalie, Randy, and Stottlemeyer find out, Monk pleads innocent, and they believe him. While Monk is being sent to prison, he breaks out of the truck and runs away towards Natalie's house. I also noticed that there were obsticles along the way which were on Monk's phobia list and he overcame them. How nice! Anyway, he reaches Natalie's house, and she finds an old navy uniform of Mitch's to wear. At first, Monk won't wear it because it's all dusty. :P Anyway, then Randy shows up because HQ sent him over because they believe Monk would try to get in contact with Natalie. However, with Randy's very short attention span, he is totally oblivious to the fact that Monk is already in the house. So while Monk sneaks around to go hide upstairs, Natalie entertains Randy by making him a smoothie with a drill. Which he drinks... Anyway, later Monk calls Stottlemeyer and they think of a plan. They meet on the docks, and Monk is aware of the police watching him from near by. Then it appears Stottlemeyer shoots him, and he falls into the water and the episode ends. Me and my mom think he has to have a bullet proof vest on or something. There's no possible way that Monk can be dead. Especially since the info on the next episode says he's trying to find the mastermind behind Trudy's murder, or something like that.moreless

    ADD TRIVIA
    • Monk's gun is described as a "Lane & Westen." Such a brand of firearms manufacturer does not exist, and indeed, upon closer examination, the gun appears to be a Beretta 92FS. Edit
    • Rollins switching the barrel of his gun with the barrel of Monk's gun in order to incriminate Monk is flawed. The firing pin indentation on the shell wouldn't have matched Monk's gun, but Rollins' gun. Also, in custody, Monk could have asked for his clothes and Rollins' clothes, plus the area around the showroom, to be tested for gunshot residue. Edit
