AIRED:
A strange "trip" of a film. The Monkees make fun of their pre-manufactured image and many other bizarre things occur.

  • I don't know why this is in, as it was a theatrical release; however, it's still good Monkees fun.

    9.4
I really enjoyed this movie, although I have to admit it's mostly because I just love the Monkees.

It is rated G, but there is a lot of imagery that I wouldn't let my young daughters see; nowadays it could probably rate a PG or a very light PG-13. Drug allusions, allusion to suicide and, most notably, the sight of a Viet Cong's execution, are definitely not G-rating material!

However, it is still great for any Monkees fan. Peter's voice, low and simple, telling Mickey "No, Mickey; I'm the dummy. I'm always the dummy." is sweet and sad.

The people who show up!!! Annette Funicello as "Davy's Girl", Toni Basil ("Mickey") dancing with Davy, Jack Nicholson talking to the director after Peter complains about having to hit a "girl" (the late Divine), etc.

"And the same goes for Christmas!" *GASP*moreless
