  • To earn some extra cash, The Monkees agree to look after a 12 year-old boy named Melvin during Christmas. The Monkees try to instill the Christmas spirit in Melvin but he is inexplicably stubborn and distant. Can The Monkees show Melvin the true spirit

"The Christmas Show," the only holiday themed episode of The Monkees, is certainly the best episode of the short lived series. Great acting, a good script and great music, including a great acapella rendition of "Riu Chiu," are a few of the many reasons why this episode works so well. It's also quite a treat for the audience when The Monkees introduce the whole crew who works on the show during the closing credits. Butch Patrick is excellent as the stubborn Melvin who, like Ebeneezer Scrooge, learns for the first time the spirit of Christmas.
