  • I'm Mocchi!

    8.0
I'm Mocchi! was a great follow up to the series premiere. I really enjoyed watching this episode as we got to know the characters a little more. The gang meet a nice old couple who love Mocchi, which makes Genki think about leaving him with them. I thought this helped develop some character complexity with Genki and Mocchi. It was interesting to see how scared the towns people were to even hear the mention of Moo. I liked how every thing worked out for every one. The Black Dinos are pretty scary with their red eyes! I look forward to the next episode!!!!!moreless
  • What Monster Ranchers does that other animes don't do.

    7.5
While a bit corny that Genki and Moochi have already become best friends after the second episode, it does one thing that makes me a bit more favorable for American cartoons instead of Japanese anime; pace. The pace here is pretty fast and gets straight to the point. No delays, no dragged out scenes, just straight to the point. It makes everything more effective; the short stint with Matthew and his desire to have a monster of his own was a bit sympathetic, which is actually good considering it's only one episode. The story overall is corny, but what it achieved in one episode is pretty good.moreless
  • To save a friend, sometimes you must go against the most unbearable decisions.

    8.2
Genki felt this several times in this episode. He was constantly telling Mocchi to go back to the village. Genki made the decision to give up his new friend, Mocchi just so he could prevent him from getting hurt. However, Mocchi refuses to leave his new friend.

Mocchi is saddened by the news that Genki wants to get rid of him, so he runs away into the forest. In the forest, Genki confronts a pack of Black Dinos. Just as Genki is about to get chomped on, Mocchi comes to his aid, and the two escape from the Black Dinos.

After the two escape, Mocchi reveals that he found a new Mystery Disc. The two go to the temple, and unlock the new monster. It is a baby, Spot Dino.

As Holly, Suezo, Genki, Mocchi and Spot Dino exit the temple, they are confronted by two elderly townspeople. They give Genki a pair of boots to wear (he is bare-foot). The two elders seem to adore the Spot Dino, so Genki makes the decision to let them breed it. The elders are overjoyed by the news.

At the end of the episode, Mocchi seems sad. Genki says "Don't worry, Mocchi. I'll never get rid of you."

This was a great episode that focused a lot on the friendship between Genki and Mocchi. It reminded me so much of Digimon, but almost better. I fell in love with the Spot Dino. It was quite cute. I'm looking forward to watching episode 3.moreless
  • Mocci and Genki almost split

    7.3
This is the second episode of Monster Rancher. In this episode the gang just found the disk that contained the cute little monster called Mocci. But while they were out in the woods they came across a old man and his wife. They offered to house the gang over night instead of having them sleep outside. While they were in the old man's house he told the group that he and his wife had always wanted a monster. So when they left Genki tried to get Mocci to go back to the old man's house (since they liked Mocchi and he liked them). But in the end a battle with the Black Dinos brought Mocci and Genki back together.moreless
