  • With terrific dialogue, deep character development and a story that just won't stop delivering twists, Monster delivers.

    "Superb"
I know of no other anime, manga or any other show or movie for that matter that has a story as complex as Monster's. Beginning simply where a doctor loses his position after saving a child, it then pulls out all the stops, becoming dark, twisted and convoluted yet enough to make you beg for more. All the characters, intricately and perfectly connected in the mess, are developed to become their own man, or woman, and blend in perfectly in the carnage.
This is a must watch for anyone and might teach a few a lesson on how to write a real story.moreless
  • Absolutely brilliant anime! I've never ever seen an anime like it! Its about a guy who saved a serial killer child who kills everyone close to him, even the summary sounds enticing.moreless

This anime is one of the best I've seen. First of all the drawings are very well done, yet most people wouldn't like them (actually I didn't at first), the reason being is that they draw realistic people, and they aren't normal anime. You see, normal anime draws cutesy adorable perfect dolls, whilst this one draws people fat skinny old young ugly and pretty, not just pretty, skinny, and that one otaku nobody likes. Another thing is that the storyline is unique and adventurous. So basically this guy is running around Germany, away from the cops, trying to find a serial killer who he rescued many years ago in hopes of his life changing, and it did-- for the worse. But somehow the police think he is responsible for the murders of his bosses and middle aged couples with children because most of the deaths benifit him. Now that isn't your average "untracable". It also has no real romance (except Eva) unlike most action movies (like speed or wrong turn for example). Its purely an action anime created for the 'edge of your seat' chill you get while watching this. The confusing thing is that everyone speaks Japanese in Germany, yet they have "english/german" names (except Tenma) but when they are seen speaking to certain people (like foreigners that are seen in one episode) they speak german. Thats confusing to have the setting in Germany, the voice in Japanese, and for 96% of american anime watchers, the writing in english (except that 4% that watches raw.) Overall this anime is very good in the drawings, the plot, and it will leave you glued to the computer until the end. I reccommend you watch!moreless
  • Amazing, thrilling show.

At first I wasn't sure if I would like this kind of thing, my brother explained it to me as a show about a doctor who gets blamed for murder and goes on the run. Yes, that is the general idea of the show but that's not a good explanation. Monster is a creepy thrilling mystery that keeps you on the edge of your seat all the time. You never know what's gonna happen next. You can't help but get attached to the main character, Dr. Tenma as he goes about his life, trying to survive this huge mess and helping others survive as he's struggling. He's an amazing character, he's kind, generous, funny, sweet, but without the over perfection that some characters have. He has a few flaws which makes him more human. He's also pretty cute ;)

Monster brings up a lot of questions about human nature and good vs evil. Seemingly good people are evil, seemingly evil people have good in them. There are always 2 sides to every story and one must examine everything thoroughly before making judgments. And above all, all life is equal, no matter what your social status is.

Those are the lessons Monster teaches, and what makes it so interesting.moreless
  • Dr. Tenma, a brilliant Japanese neurosurgeon lives a humble life until he decides to go against his superior to save a boy's life. His life then takes a turn for the worse and Dr. Tenma finds himself on the run and trying to redo his past mistakes.moreless

"A wise man makes his own decisions, an ignorant man follows the public opinion." I consider Dr. Tenma a wise and courageous man because he was able to make his own decision instead of others choosing it for him. He was able to voice out his own opinion and carve his own path. He believed in his values strongly which enabled him to carry on through all of his misfortunes. He was one of the few doctors that still abide by their Hypocratical Oath. The oath in which a doctor promises to never kill anyone and to do the best he can to save the lives of the others. It has always been my dream to become a doctor, a surgeon to be precise. This anime has taught me the values of life and how we must protect it.moreless

The most suspenseful, thrilling series ever. The series kicks off with a top neurosurgeon called Dr. Tenma in a dilema, to save the mayor of the city or save a boy (Johan who is brought in with a twin sister Anna who has amnesia) which he was assigned to first, but he chose his conscience over the direct orders of the director of the hospital (who is Dr. Tenma's fiances father). Only when he saves Johan and finds out that the mayor had died because of his choice, that he finds out how corrupt people can be and everything starts falling appart around him. Till the director and 2 doctors are found dead and Johan missing, the adventure begins.moreless
